I believe in every good family stands a good father to support, nurture and love his family. These are some personal compilations based on my experiences of a what a good father is:

When I have started on the internet way back 1995, I have looked and internet is not the way it's used to be way back then. It's a new medium for me and I am very excited about it. There are times I can't sleep thinking about the web and the internet. I have thought about it's unlimited possibilities. The reach of the internet is global so I have to think global in those days. I remember starting with my own products, well, actually not my own since I get it from some other company and reselling it. I remember getting it from a reputable herbal company way back then and the company is already defunct so I won't mention it's name. I have taken the opportunity to promote their herbal products on the internet since they are not capitalizing their internet presence way back then, having an e-mail is already too much not to mention having your own web address in those days. So I got weekly sales promoting their products, with only the internet as my medium of promotion. I earned like four figures in U.S. dollars per week, in those days those were huge. All I need to do is to promote to sell their products, I scanned their brochures and show up the product, edit it a little bit on Adobe (tm) Photoshop, put the title using Adobe (tm) Coreldraw (tm) and that's about it. I do also the delivery once a product is paid for and I have commitment with my payment company to deliver the product in under five days. The herbal soap will arrive in the U.S. from the Philippines in approximately two days or sometimes less. I make it a point that once an order is placed, I reply to it the usual way, then goes to the shop to order the actual products, then on to Fedex (tm) all consuming four hours of my time after the e-mail notification of the sales has been received. Up until now I'm asking the question, why affiliate programs? 1. Affiliate programs gives you instant products/services to sell. Accept it the internet gives you the demand, whatever demand that is, you just have to research or know what the demand is. Stop thinking locally and think worldwide, what are people's needs and their wants. The demand is there, but you can't just create the product, it needs time, money and effort on your part. Why be selfish of selling your own, go for other products as well owned and endorsed by other companies. With company's help, the product is fully tested over time, they have invested lots of money on it and not to mention their corporate effort to go with it.

2. Affiliate programs saves you time, effort and money. On the internet, if you don't have that much amount of money to start with, then leverage it with more time. Work more than the average netizens to balance it all off. affiliate programs not only saves you time and effort in the research of new products, but it saves you money as well plus the reputation is there, if the product is sourced from reputable companies.

3. Affiliate programs gives you the edge. There are no exclusivity in affiliate programs. You are free to be a member of lots of affiliate programs even if it overlaps, meaning even if they have the same products (different brands) for you to sell. Just join them, the more the merrier. Not to mention of course you will only go with time-tested affiliate programs out there. These brands of different companies might compete with each other, but with you on their side, they are not competitions but opportunities. If one brand is rejected, I'm sure they will go for the other brand, but you also carry it.

4. Affiliate programs makes you stable. All you need to do is think or research the companies that produces those demanded products and sell them. If worst comes to worst, company closes down, you still have other companies to go to. If I were to choose from partnership and affiliate programs, I would choose first affiliate programs then partnership. Usually some affiliate programs if you're already into a long relationship with them, will give you good partnership. Good partnership can't give you that edge of sourcing out other companies for it includes (if not all) exclusivity. You are limited to joining one company selling same product/services that's about it. Frankly, I haven't known a sane company that, for example, they're selling cell phones, will allow you to get into partnership with another cell phone company. It's just not practical for them to lose you. In other words, you can't serve two masters in partnership, but affiliate programs allows you to.

5. Affiliate programs works, while you make the sales. Companies in affiliation with you will work side by side by you, to deliver, to assure quality to the customers and provide after sales customer support. After selling their products or services, all you got to do is sell again and make money. That's so easy for me, I don't know about you but the way to go is CPA (cost per action) or what they call per sales. It's much more reliable and minimizes the abuse. Your real email address (the private one) is hidden from spammers and you are protected because of temporary email address. There are lots of temporary email services out there, you only have to search it.

(c) You may also use remotely hosted spam filter such as http://www.boxbe.com/ which only allows senders that you approve to send you email, you put good email addresses or real contact persons email that you want to receive email from on the whitelist and those that spams you put them on the blacklist. It's that simple, the blacklisted will not reach your email address, the whitelisted ones will reach you for that important long awaited email message.

(d) Another idea to filter spam from your mailbox is to use http://xinbox.com/ instead of posting your email address you only post a link to a form that goes thru your email address, still has it's flaws but basically works since no one will see your real email address, only the time when you reply will they have knowledge of it.

(e) Another spam filter is using this http://www.spamjab.com it currently works with pop3 emails if you have one you can use their free service to relay messages first on their email servers before it reaches your real email servers. An email account from gmail.com and/or yahoo.com works on this type of service. Again if you have forgotten whitelisting or submitting your contacts to the admin, that email will not reach you in any way.

3. Your choice of email client to get to your email.
One that I'm using is http://www.thunderbird.com which has exhaustive email filters that works for me, type of email that works here are gmail, yahoo and hotmail/msn. It supports imap email servers meaning it accesses your email and it has a security higher than what POP3 can offer you.

I have mentioned Thunderbird because it supports modules or what they call as add-on, tiny software that can be added to the client itself to extend it's functionality. I will list some of those software that can help you as well filter spam. They are also known as spam blocker, whitelister, or to the extent spamfighter.

(a) Spampal.org - http://www.spampal.org/ - extends your Thunderbird to create whitelist and blacklist rules based on public databases of known spammers, so they're spam will be filtered out even before it reaches your email servers. It's very effective for me to reach to my email so it's worth to get it and install it once you have Thunderbird.

(b) Spamihilator - http://www.spamihilator.com/ - has it's own training area, and recyle bin. It keeps on learning on the training area based on what you label as spam or non-spam and next time it "remembers" that based on your email message patterns. On your next email fetch it will block and put on it's recycle bin those that are spam according to your instructions and put those non-spam to your Thunderbird email client. Sometimes the learning takes some time, but it becomes more effective on the number of emails you are receiving.

(c) Spamfighter - http://www.spamfighter.com - consists of it's own public spammer and spam-vertised domains plus the ability to add to it, if you're a member you may add email addresses that you considered as spammer's email by simply clicking the message and clicking Block on the toolbar of Thunderbird, the spamfighter toolbar will only show up after you got a successful installation of spamfighter.

4. Bonus Spam Protection From Forum Spammers.
If you own a forum or you're a current forum admin or forum moderator you'll appreciate the tools below that can help you prevent and help others as well in doing it, on stopping spam on your forum(s).

This knowledge and training I got to learn when I was International Sales Manager of a reputable cctv company in the Philippines.

There's a saying that import and export business has nothing much to do with the products as compared with import/export documentations. Correct paperworks play huge roles and cannot be underplayed in accurately organizing your very own import and export business. At first, don't worry you don't have to do everything appoint someone knowledgeable in this area who can assist you in import and export documentations, he or she needs to have import export credentials for your company to have good reputation for your global trading. Later on, as the company grows with you, you need to learn about these things to do it on your own.

From country to country there are little variation in essential import export documentations and are sure to include the following:

1. Letter of Credit - Application letter for making payments for imported items, once the required papers are turned over. It mainly states that importer's bank guarantees payment provided the entire import export documentations specified in it are in order.

2. Purchase Order - A trade requirement mainly for financing purposes. You as a buyer/importer needs to prove the order to your bank first to organize a provisional loan or this is to prove to the Customs that the entire thing is legitimate and true.

3. Certificates of Origin - Differing countries have different limitations on the entrance of new commodities from other countries, and may apply duties to these commodities or ban them altogether. We're looking at tax benefits on the other hand, on specified items from specific supply sources. In such cases, the Exporter will require from the Importer this certificate which is certified by importer's country's designated regulatory authority.

4. Bill of Lading - When commodities are sent via sea route, a required shpment documentations for sea consignments are presented as further proof that commodities are sent by the supplier.

5. Airway Bill - This is same with bill of lading except this is documents when products are delivered via air shipment.

6. Inspection or Quality credential - Vital documents required by Importers getting an examination of goods prior shipment, making sure that deal is established in accordance to the buyer's requirement.

7. Packing List - Basically a list of all the cardboard boxes contained in the container and the contents lists inside the boxes.

8. Invoice - this essential document will outline the complete synopsis of merchandise and is invoiced in the currency of sale.

9. Others - Detailed documents requirements from country to country. For example, Australia has strict quarantine limitations governing trade of animal and food items, be sure to know these and secure a permit or subject your animal and food items to an inspection and quarantine requirement.

This should not be taken lightly hence the reason to hire staff under you that knows such things and are already experienced with years to save you in future heartbreaks and huge money losses.

Everyone seems to be complaining about the economic downturn during these bad times. Self denial and laziness is not the way to conquer it, it's about diversifying and learning of new different sources of income. Out comes your new import export business.

Adopt a proactive approach, learn that businesses are closing left and right, and majority if not all are huge suppliers, giving opportunities to small scale suppliers and the business and demand are left alone, this is a huge opportunity.

Here are some steps suggestion, success can't be built in one day remember that, and you might have to approach it differently compared to me, but at least I've shown you the way.

1. Visit a trade lead directory.

Alibaba.com is the choice for me. Think of it for a moment if you're gonna start your business online, might as well think big and go international.

2. Market Research.

Be sure there's profit to be made in every step, you end up as the winner. Ask yourself this question, do you have to keep inventory at first? Do you have to rely for a few months from a reputable supplier? Decisions have to be made and sacrifices as well. Poor research always lead to poor business decisions. If your are lacking in time, purchasing research reports is not a bad thing to do at first, you need to study and learn on your own. Ask these questions again, are there rising demands for that specific product you wish to market and sell? Who are these people that needs those products? Who are your competitors?

3. Have a marketing and business plan.

If you plan nothing, you will arrive at nothing. People in this type of business have become successful because they have learned to plan and keep it. Definitely, your media is offline and online to get the word out. Are there networks to tap into? Do you know the top people in this business? Can you contact some knowledgeable people and work your way in and get them as mentors. You don't always have to do it using money, there are people you might know that are friends of this people, and can show you the way for free. This is called also networking.

4. Do it.
Like what Nike have said, Just do it! Enough talk and research and make your hands dirty as they say. You are bound to fail but don't quit. Failing is good if you learn a lot about it and not to commit the same mistakes you have. Doing your homework gives you a good chance for success. Proceed to request for quotations. Choose the best or most optimal suppliers. The price is the last part or basis to decide on, there are other matters such as availability, support and quality of the product. Make allowances and start all over again.

5. Manage your cash flow.
Always think the best things in life are free. Be resourceful, you don't need always to pay as I've said. Be creative. Internet on the other hand is free and it offers free unlimited advertising on your part. Don't order it all in one day, slowly but surely study the demands and supplies. Order in small quantities of varying qualified products. Bundle them to new combinations thus creating new products to sell. Enjoy getting it at wholesale prices, always know the threshold of suppliers. Know contacts and use influences. For example a friend of mine referred me to his friend that ends up being a supplier of a prime commodity and I end up getting a wholesale price for items that are meant to be sold retail. What a favor I got!
